What is an AA Meeting?
A meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous is a place to spread a message of strength, hope and courage to other alcoholics. This is a safe place for an addict wanting to get sober to come in and ask for help. These AA Meetings in Monticello, Utah will help them build a support network to live a sober life. You will be greeted by your peers that have all lived and survived from alcoholism. Their survival of maintaining their sobriety is reliant on helping others and giving back to others the support that they received.
How to Choose an AA Meeting in Monticello, Utah
It is important when coming to AA that you choose a meeting that is suited for where you are at in sobriety. The 1st type of AA meeting is a new comers meeting and is not solely for new comers but is a meeting that encourages them to share their stories and accept help. The next type of meeting would be a single gender meeting, which is only open to either men or women. A Closed meeting simply means the group is closed to any discussion that does not involve how to stay sober from alcohol. Talking about any other illicit substances is not allowed. A Step Study is a meeting that is simply a specific step and discussed in length regarding the best approach to working this step and applying it to your daily life. Traditions meetings are based off the 12 traditions of AA. The 12 traditions are not the same as the 12 steps. The traditions were implemented to maintain order throughout AA and holding each group accountable to these traditions is why you can walk into an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting anywhere in the world to hear the same message.
How to Get The Most From an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting in Monticello, Utah
The most successful members of AA have found success through going more for the program than just attending meetings. If you are attending your first AA meeting and really want to get sober, we advise following the suggestions of the AA members that have successfully stayed sober for sometime.
It is recommended that you reach your hand out and ask for help. Part of staying sober is helping the new people of AA in Monticello maintain their sobriety, so people are going to be open to helping you not drink too. Stand up, introduce who you are, admit that you need help.
