What is an AA Meeting?
An Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting is a program where alcoholics and people who struggle with substance abuse gather for one hour to discuss their experience, strength, and hope. AA Members who attend an Alcoholic’s Anonymous meeting in New Hampshire, Ohio will share their experience getting sober through their personal anecdotes with anyone working on their recovery journey. There is no religion, creed or race, for membership, just the wish to stop drinking, and live a happy & healthy life without alcohol.
The Best Method of Selecting an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting in New Hampshire, Ohio
It is important when coming to Alcoholics Anonymous that you choose a meeting that is best for where you are at in sobriety. The 1st type of AA meeting is a new comers meeting and is not limited to only new comers but is a meeting that motivates them to speak their truth and accept help. Another type of meeting would be a gender specific meeting, which is only open to either men or women. A Closed meeting simply means the group is solely focused on conversations regarding how to stay sober from alcohol. Speaking of any other illicit substances is not allowed. A Step Study is a meeting that is simply focused on a single step and discussed in length regarding the best approach to working this step and applying it to your daily life. Traditions meetings revolve around the 12 traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. Not to be confused with the 12 steps. The traditions were established to maintain order throughout Alcoholics Anonymous and holding each group accountable to these traditions is why you can walk into an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting anywhere in the world to hear the same message.
How to Get The Most From an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting in New Hampshire, Ohio
In order to get the most out of your first AA meeting you should remain open minded. Everyone had preconceived notions of what these meeting were and generally it is the same misconception. The best advice I ever got was to sit down, stop talking, pay attention to the message, and modestly ask for help. No matter the type of meeting meeting, that one thing that won’t change is the message of recovering from a hopeless state of mind. The process of recovering from that hopeless state is in asking for help from another alcoholic which you will find in any Alcoholics Anonymous meeting you choose to pick as your first.
