What is an AA Meeting?
A meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous is a program where alcoholics and people who struggle with drug use gather for one hour to discuss their experience, strength, and hope. AA Members who attend an Alcoholic’s Anonymous meeting in Groesbeck, Ohio will share their experience getting sober through their personal anecdotes with anyone looking to get sober. There is no religious, social or economic association for membership, just the desire to get sober, and live a fulfilling life without alcohol.
How to Choose an AA Meeting in Groesbeck, Ohio
It is important when coming to AA that you select a meeting that is suited for where you are at in sobriety. The 1st type of Alcoholics Anonymous meeting is a new comers meeting and is not limited to only new comers but is a meeting that inspires members to speak their truth and ask for help. Another type of meeting would be a gender specific meeting, which is only open to one gender. A Closed meeting simply means the group is closed to any discussion that does not involve how to maintain sobriety from alcohol. Speaking of any other illicit substances is not allowed. A Step Study is a gathering that is simply a specific step and spoken about in length regarding the best approach to working this step and applying it to your daily life. Traditions meetings are focused on the 12 traditions of AA. Not to be confused with the 12 steps. The traditions are built to maintain order throughout AA and holding each group accountable to these traditions is why you can attend an AA Meeting anywhere in the world to hear the same message.
How to Get The Most From a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous in Groesbeck, Ohio
The members who benefit the most from AA tend to find success through going more for the program than just attending meetings. If you are attending your first AA meeting and really want to get sober, we recommend following the suggestions of the AA members that have come before you.
It is important that you reach your hand out and admit that you need help. Part of staying sober is helping the newcomers of AA in Groesbeck live a sober life, so people are going to be open to helping you get sober too. Raise your hand, say who you are, admit that you need help.
