To benefit the most from your initial AA meeting you need to walk through the front door with an open mind, and the willingness to change. Make sure to arrive 30 minutes early and stay 30 minutes after because there is always a “before” and “after” for every meeting, where the members of the group gather outside and talk. Make sure during opening remarks that you raise your hand to let the group know this is your first meeting. Don’t forget to inquire about a meeting list, with contact information of the group members. Last, but certainly not least don’t hesitate to raise your hand and speak, share the journey that lead you to your first AA meeting.
