What is an AA Meeting?
A meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous is an assembly where alcoholics and people who struggle with substance abuse gather for one hour to discuss their experience, strength, and hope. AA Members who attend an Alcoholic’s Anonymous meeting in Council, Idaho will share their experience getting sober through their personal stories with anyone seeking help with a drinking problem. There is no religion, creed or race, for membership, just the yearn to get sober, and live a productive life without alcohol.
The Best Method of Choosing an AA Meeting in Council, Idaho
Alcohol Addiction is a disease of the mind, body, and soul. AA has curated meetings to guide you through each individual piece of your sobriety. If you are looking for a meeting on the 1st three steps, you should choose a beginner meeting. If you are looking to focus on your spiritual side, attending a meditation meeting would be a good choice. If you want to hear stories of inspiration for overcoming alcoholism, a speaker meeting is a good starting point. If you have completed your steps and are now working on the traditions of AA, a traditions meetings will help. If you want to attend a single gender group, you can go to a men’s or women’s meeting where no one of the opposite gender will be there. All in all there is a meeting for everyone. Try them out until you find one that fits your needs.
How to Get The Most From an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting in Council, Idaho
In order to benefit the most from your first AA meeting you should remain open minded. We all had an idea of what these meeting were and generally it is the same misconception. The best advice I ever got was to sit down, stop talking, pay attention to the message, and humbly ask for help. No matter the type of meeting meeting, that one thing that will always be present is the message of recovering from a hopeless state of mind. The process of recovering from that hopeless state is in asking for help from another addict which you will find in any AA meeting you choose to start with.
