What is an AA Meeting?
An AA Meeting is a program where alcoholics and people who struggle with substance abuse gather for one hour to discuss their experience, strength, and hope. AA Members who attend an Alcoholic’s Anonymous meeting in Xenia, Ohio will share their experience getting sober through their personal stories with anyone working on their recovery journey. There is no religious, social or economic association for membership, just the desire to achieve sobriety, and live a happy & healthy existence without alcohol.
The Best Method of Choosing an AA Meeting in Xenia, Ohio
It is important when coming to AA that you choose a meeting that is best for where you are at in sobriety. The first type of AA meeting is a new comers meeting and is not only for new comers but is a meeting that encourages members to share their stories and accept help. Another type of meeting would be a gender specific meeting, which is only open to one gender. A Closed meeting simply means the group is solely focused on conversations regarding how to stay sober from alcohol. Speaking of any other substance use addictions is not allowed. A Step Study is a meeting that is simply a specific step and spoken about in length regarding the best approach to working this step and applying it to your daily life. Traditions meetings are based off the 12 traditions of AA. The 12 traditions are not the same as the 12 steps. The traditions are built to maintain order throughout AA and maintaining accountability to these traditions is why you can join an AA Meeting anywhere in the world to hear the same message.
How to Get The Most From an AA Meeting in Xenia, Ohio
The members who benefit the most from AA tend to find success through getting involved in the program. For alcoholics who are attending their first AA meeting and really want to get sober, we recommend following the suggestions of the AA members that have been a part of Alcoholics Anonymous for a while.
It is important that you reach your hand out and admit that you need help. Part of not drinking is helping the newcomers of AA in Xenia maintain their sobriety, so people are going to be more than willing to help you not drink too. Raise your hand, introduce who you are, admit that you need help.
