What is an AA Meeting?
AA is a program organized to help alcoholics stay sober. It is free to attend a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous in Ontario, Ohio as the funding is donated from its members.
AA is among the most commonly recognized programs in the United States and around the world that helps countless men and women get sober in the pursuit of lifelong recovery. They are commonly made up of small groups of recovering alcoholics who share their recovery journey and are there to help new members stay sober.

There are a many different AA meetings in Ontario, Ohio. Before selecting the meeting that you are going to join, it is helpful to know the different types of AA meetings and who can attend each one.
Open Meeting of AA – An Open Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting is open to anyone who has a desire to attend. You do not have to be an alcoholic to go to an open meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. Friends, family, and children can join these meetings.
Closed Meeting of AA – A Closed AA Meeting is only for those who have a desire to get sober. It is not open to friends or family.
Big Book Meeting – At these meetings, a member will typically read out of the Big Book and follow the reading with a discussion amongst its members.
Speaker Meeting – At an AA speaker meeting, a member of AA will tell their story and share their journey, strength, and hope with fellow members of AA. The speaker may or may not take up all of the time and can often be followed by a discussion amongst the members.
AA Literature Meeting – A literature meeting typically involves reading from one of the AA approved pieces of literature and can often be followed by a discussion amongst the members or a speaker about the literature of topic.
Step Study – An AA step study traditionally focuses on a specific step or 2 per meeting. This can involve a speaker lead discussion about a particular step, literature reading, and could be followed by a discussion about the step(s).
Meditation Meeting – A meditation meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous can involve internal contemplation for a portion of the meeting or even the length of the meeting. The meditation may be guided and is sometimes followed by an open dialogue.
Traditions AA Meeting – One or more of the AA traditions will be discussed in extensively. This can be done with a speaker, literature lead, and could be followed by a discussion.

How to Get The Most From an AA Meeting in Ontario, Ohio
