What is an AA Meeting?
A meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous is a place to spread a message of strength, hope and courage to other alcoholics. This is a safe place for an addict seeking sobriety to come in and ask for help. These meetings in Frankfort, Ohio will help them build a support system to live a sober life. You will be invited in by your peers that have all lived and survived from addiction. Their survival of maintaining this state is reliant on helping others and giving back to others the support that they received.
How to Choose an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting in Frankfort, Ohio
It is important when coming to Alcoholics Anonymous that you select a meeting that is suited for where you are at in sobriety. The first type of Alcoholics Anonymous meeting is a new comers meeting and is not only for new comers but is a meeting that motivates members to share their stories and ask for help. Another type of meeting would be a single gender meeting, either a men’s meeting or women’s meeting. These types of meeting are not opened to the opposite sex. A Closed meeting simply means the group is solely focused on conversations regarding how to maintain sobriety from alcohol. Talking about any other drugs is not allowed. A Step Study is a meeting that is simply focused on a single step and spoken about in length regarding the best approach to working this step and applying it to your daily life. Traditions meetings are based off the 12 traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. The 12 traditions are different than the 12 steps. The traditions are built to maintain order throughout Alcoholics Anonymous and holding each group accountable to these traditions is the reason you can attend a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous anywhere in the world to hear the same message.
How to Get The Most From a meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous in Frankfort, Ohio
In order to benefit the most from your first AA meeting you should remain open minded. Everyone had preconceived notions of what these meeting were and generally it is the same misconception. The most beneficial thing I was told was to sit down, stop talking, listen to the message, and graciously ask for help. At any meeting, the one constant will be message of recovering from a hopeless state of mind. The process of recovering from that hopeless state is in asking for help from another person suffering from alcohol addiction which you will find in any AA meeting you choose to make your first.
